Homer Watson was a Canadian artist from the late 1900s. His main focus was landscape and mainly around his hometown of Doon, Ontario. His artwork gained recognition from Oscar Wilde, the Marquis of Lorne and Queen Victoria. In 1881 he married Roxanna Bechtel and moved into Drake House at Doon, which was his residence until death.

"The man who first saw Canada as Canada, rather than as dreamy blurred pastiches of European painting" - J. Russell Harper

The painting is a personal connection that Homer had with his surroundings. This painting has a high degree of detail, this unique vision of a dramatic storm scene, and a lake that was once frozen at a moment.

How this painting relates to my theme is because it fits in the category of landscapes and it is in the Americas. Why I chose this painting was because Watson was a famous painter that many adored his work.
