"From our camp at the pocket the wall of the Grand Canyon was visible some 15 miles down the valley." - Thomas Moran
The great bans of the Green River in southwestern Wyoming was one of Moran favorite place to paint. He would paint this scene from different angles and changing the skies. In the painting theres a small group of Indians that ride toward an encampment below soaring cliffs.
This painting shows a great landscape that once before the Indians that control of, it shows the great west at the time. I chose this painting was because I loved how Moran painted the Canyons so detailed with color and the sky splattered with paint.
